The past few days have been crazy. Last Wednesday I finally bought the pet that I had been wanting since I was in college: chinchillas. I had their cage set up and everything before I bought the crazy-balls home, and I had to modify the cage a bit for a water bottle to even fit through the wires. Two things I did not perceive before I got them: 1) that Mufasa would want to attack them and 2) that they would be so darn clever and made of jelly. After one night, I walked into the chinchilla room to find only one chinchilla. After a few minutes of panicking, I found the little guy, in the same room as the cage, underneath the couch. I was able to get him in and I secured the hole I had to make for the water bottle with duct tape. Since I didn't want them to live like white trash, I went out and bought another water bottle that should secure the hole a little better. Key word, SHOULD. On Sunday after Kay and I got back from lunch, I found the secure water bottle on the floor, water everywhere, and the cage had one less chinchilla. It was the same little escapee. And the same little escapee went back under the couch. After once again returning him to his cage and securing the hole with duct tape, Kay and I went to Petsmart to seek out cage version 2.0. No modifications for this cage were needed; everything fits properly and securely. If the little contortionist can squeeze through the half-inch spaces in the new cage wires, then he deserves freedom. And freedom will come with plexiglass.

No official names for them yet. I had thought about naming them Speed Racer and the Mysterious Racer X, and who knows, I might still. The darker one keeps escaping, and it was Racer X who ran away from home. The lighter one loves his running wheel so much it's like he's training for a race. See? It all kind of fits. But for now we've started to call them Captain Chaos and Major Disarray after the insanity they have caused.

Mufasa has gotten a lot better about running towards the cage when he comes in since Day One, but he still doesn't understand why they aren't his personal entertainment. I'm sure the more he gets used to them the better he'll be.

Now if you're asking what is Guinevere going to do with them when she gets back, then answer is, I'm not sure she's coming back. Christi agreed to keep her while we're in the interim, and Guin has adjusted so incredibly well over there. She doesn't pee on Christi's clothes, she doesn't cry all the time because I'm not there, and well, she just seems happier. I had been thinking about asking Christi if she would keep Guin permanently, and I'm still not 100% sure about it, but you know, when I saw Christi pick Guin up and cuddle with her, it just made sense. Guin hasn't let me pick her up in ages. She used to be the sweetest cat. She didn't pee on things, she loved it when company came over, and if you patted your chest, she would run to hop up in your lap and cuddle. I'm not sure what changed it, whether it was the move to Lewisville or that she stayed with my parents without me for a month. Or was it that Shawn moved in? The two never really had a good relationship. Bottom line is that I want my cat to be happy, and she seems so happy right now. She doesn't have 80-lb fatass of a dog chasing her, she doesn't really have to share attention with anyone, and she has more space than 2 rooms, which is all she really had at my house since Mufasa always chased her. And at least I know she'll be at a good home with a good person that loves her. And I know I'll get visitation rights. (and before you cry out that I need to talk to Christi first, I already have)

Yeeesh the colors look bad. Looks like I'll have to play some more so that it doesn't hurt the eyes.

My sister's puppy is the cutest ever! My family came in town this weekend and Lisa brought her new addition, baby Bo! Watching him play and interact with everyone was so cute it made me want another puppy. Then Lisa started telling stories about housebreaking him. My desires for a new puppy washed away quickly. Puppy fever didn't escape my Mom, though. She's already put a down payment on a Boston Terrier puppy. We're going to be the family of Boston Terriers. We should make them mob outfits for Halloween. But I still need to find a replica of the General Lee to give Lisa for her birthday (since her dogs are named Bo & Duke...too close to the Dukes of Hazzard... I give up). Still wish Mom was going to name her dog Daisy. It would fit oh so well.

The house is moving right along! We took the parents by on Saturday and they were putting drywall up. So maybe the May closing won't be a piece of fiction after all! I know we still have a lot of work to do on it before we move in, like paint and put in hardwood floors, but the sooner we can do so the better. I'm having a lot of fun living with Kay, but the space constraints are really getting to me. Especially when it comes to the kitchen. If the pantry was any smaller, it could be a skinny broom closet. It's so jam-packed full of food it's impossible to find anything. I hugged my little walk-in pantry when I saw it on Saturday. To me, a perfect house means big kitchen and big closets. Augh, that's another thing getting to me. I never knew I had so many clothes until I tried to squeeze them all into a 1920's closet. So why is it that I feel like I wear the same clothes to work all the time?

And another piece of summer vacation has been set! We'll be going toobing (senza the camping) with Lisa and Joe in early August. So with this, A-kon, and the Colorado trip with my parents, I think we've filled our summer to the brim. And I somehow have to figure in going to Seattle in September before Shawn leaves. Why in the world does it cost $400 a person to go to Seattle? Is it that hoppin' of a place? Sheesh!

I gave Matt the fabulousness that is Fullmetal Alchemist and he told me the other day that he had a dream that I asked Ryan Seacrest to cut off my legs so I could have automail. In a trailer home, no less. Apparently he couldn't bear to watch it so he left. Thanks for trying to talk me out of it.

Matt, seriously, if you do dream about turning me into the Philosopher's Stone, NO MORE FMA FOR YOU!!!!

Not that I'm one to talk. Watching anime before going to bed does produce some messed up dreams.

I love my husband, I really do, but...I'm rather happy that he's going back out of town. Then maybe I'll actually get some sleep. I'm beginning to understand why some couples have separate bedrooms. I'll need to make his soundproof.

Hot damn it's been crazy...I can't believe I didn't update about Baylor winning the Final Four!!! I guess in case you don't care about sports at all, this could be news to you, and if so...yay! I'm glad I surprised someone with the news!

Here's the first piece of crazy-ass news...I'm going to Japan in 2006! And the craziest part about it is that I'm going with four people I've never met before! They're all cel-collectors and anime freaks that I've chatted with online but never met in person. I still can't believe that I've agreed to go and even more shocked that Shawn was all, sounds good...have fun! I'm either going to fly out to Atlanta or DT will fly out here so we can at least learn what we look like. If this does work out, this WILL be the craziest thing I've ever done. I'm still going in 2007 for my 30th birthday, but now when I go I'll know what to expect and have an idea where to lead people.

So yeah I've been preoccupied this week with how I'm going to save $$ for it and wow, am I really nuts for wanting to go? Good thing my resident shoulder-devil, Bacon-kun, was there to lay on the thick support and scream loudly that I needed to go. Because seriously, if I didn't have her support I wouldn't go (heavy heavy sarcasm here...never take much I say seriously). The other thing I've been a little preoccupied with is the house. I can't believe it, but the frame and roof are up! We're looking at a May closing, so by the end of June we should have the wood floors put in, everything painted, and ready to start another Talking Shit Party. My parents are coming in next weekend, and I can't wait to show them the house and where it is. Maybe now I'll stop hearing that I live so freaking far.

Shawn and I just got back a little while ago from Bed, Bath and Beyond (I'm totally redecorating the bathrooms) and I'm exhausted. I still have to fansub and I might really hit on learning Japanese. I have to bump my "fluency" up by one year after all. WHOOO HOOOOOO!

Oh by the way...some new quotes are up in case yer interested.

Seriously, who would have thought that Baylor would have made it to the finals of the Final Four??? Like this game, I don't care if they win (although that would rule!) I'm just so happy that they've made it this far. Sic 'em Bears!!

And Nicole, just so you won't hound me about it tomorrow, the Vegas pictures are up. Go peruse and see Vegas in a day! Oh and Shawn is back from Vegas. He came back Saturday evening, went with me to Lucinda's farewell happy hour, and despite our plans to call it an early night we ended up closing the bar. Haven't done that in ages. So we rolled in after 3, and Shawn left for Houston around ten the next morning. He'll be there this week and then will go to Ohio for two and then Virginia for two. I hear he's forming his own nomadic tribe.

Go see Robots. Saw it this weekend knowing hardly anything about it and laughed through the whole thing. Spectacular voice cast. Aaaah, Ewan McGregor. Still love that guy. (And if you go you will see a kick ass trailer of Episode III!)
