Well happy day everyone...we're officially homeless! And freeloaders! So you know what this means...TECHNO DANCE PARTY!!!! Well, maybe not. There will be a party, but not until our new house is finished and we have moved in. It may be a combination Talking Shit Party/Housewarming. Stay tuned for further details.
Now to totally switch gears...I know that this should be under my snapped section, and it will probably go there eventually. I'm going to talk about it here because I genuinely would like some feedback on what this is supposed to mean:
I believe the great legacy of 9/11 was the immediate sense of community and connectedness and willingness to understand the rage against America.
I found this on a website (that will remain nameless) this morning and I was shocked. Do people really think this? Willingness to understand the rage against America? What? Can someone please try to help me understand what I'm supposed to be willing to understand? I'm not trying to be an ass here, I'm just really confused and a little hurt at what I think this is trying to say. posted by Keri

Well today didn't have a good start. I had a rogue eyelash in my eye that I couldn't get out at all and I got water in my ear from the shower. I don't think there is anything more miserable than having water in your ear all day. The eyelash finally came out of my eye around lunchtime after hours of massaging my eye to make it tear up and flush the lash out. I picked up some online tips for water in the ear, and they have partially worked. It better come out tonight when I sleep on my side. Please don't make me buy the evil Swimmer's Ear stuff. whimper
But the end of the day had a good one. My other trial for February got continued to May, so now I'm not so rushed on learning this new presentation software and I can help Shawn pack up things this weekend. I think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to software, especially with software dealing with documents and presentation of documents, but I don't want the stress of learning a new software and becoming a master of all by Monday. Now I have a few more months to play with it and crash the firm laptop. Thank God they took away the Dell laptop...you know I would have crashed that thing beyond repair.
The move is going well. Whenever I talk to Shawn I hear more and more of an echo. He'll have everything packed into the PODS by Monday and we're definitely closing next Friday. The buyers are even coming out to help clean next week! Love these people.
Well, I'm going to try another home remedy to get this damn water out of my ear before I read a book and crash. And by the way, for everyone that has been e-mailing me about this, this arrangement with my aunt has not been stressful. Rather, it's been a lot of fun. Mufasa and Bond love playing with her dog all day, and with our work schedules and her social life, we really don't feel like we're tripping over each other. True, it's only been two weeks, but I don't think there's going to be any real problems. There would definitely be that concern if I had moved in with my grandmother...without a doubt. posted by Keri

I have the best in-laws ever, and I'm not just saying that because I know they read this site. They have a free flight pass to Las Vegas that they have decided to give me out of the goodness of their hearts so I can spend a weekend with Shawn while he is in Vegas playing warfare, or whatever the hell they supposedly do during Annual Training. I have never been to Vegas so I'm rather excited! It will be so nice to take a break after we move out and work slows down a little bit. VEGAS BABY!! VEGAS!!!! posted by Keri

I'm supposed to be in trial right now. I've had this one case since day one here at my job, and it's kind of been my little baby. It's my first case that I've taken to trial and I know absolutely everything about it. I know what everything is, what the experts are going to talk about, what our strategies are...everything. All of my other cases have been hand-me-downs, so I've had to sporadically learn what happened along the way. Not this one. So yeah, despite the long hours I had to put in to get it ready for trial, I was looking forward to going to trial on it. And then it settled...in the middle of court yesterday. All in all, it was the best thing for our client. Due to our rather uneducated jury (really uneducated) we would have more than likely lost. Doesn't mean that I'm not a little bummed that I didn't get to see it unfold from beginning to end. Oh well. The client is happy, and that is what is important.
Last week was stressful in addition to preparing for trial. I'm staying with my aunt this week (and possibly next, as that was the plan) so I had to pack all I could last week and pack for staying at Kay's. Since we're moving there in a couple of weeks, I decided to go on ahead and take the dogs, their things, and all of my bathroom stuff. Lots of trips between my house, work, and Kay's. Lots of mileage on the car. I even missed half the Superbowl on Sunday due to moving and work. But I guess that's okay, because the team I wanted to win did, and I heard that the commercials were less than impressive. Big thanks to Lindsey for feeding me the only meal I had on Sunday...you're a lifesaver!
This weekend I think is going to entail laundry, more moving stuff to Kay's, and trying to keep my sanity. Another good reason for that trial settling is that I can now devote full attention to preparing for my next trial, which is February 21st. Which is in McKinney. Oh yeah, and we're closing on our house on the 25th. Doesn't this sound like fun??? I hope that Hotel Biddy is prepared for a lunatic when I stay there for this McKinney trial. Very ready to go to Vegas! posted by Keri

By far, this is the most amusing shipping notice via e-mail I have ever received:
Your ordered item(s) have been gently taken from our shelves with a set of sterilized, contamination-free gloves and placed onto a satin pillow. A team of 100 employees inspected your order and folded, polished and spit-shined it to perfection, making sure everything was in the best possible condition before mailing.
Our packing specialist from Japan lit a commemorative candle and a hush fell over the crowd as he put your item(s) into the finest corrugated cardboard box that money can buy. We all proceeded to have a wonderful celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street to the post office where the entire city of Vancouver waved "Bon Voyage!" to your package.
We hope you had a wonderful time shopping with us, we sure did! Your picture now hangs on our wall as "Customer of the Year" amidst the endless rows of other "Customers of the Year". We're all very exhausted now, but can't wait for you to come back again so we can once again hold our sacred shipping ceremony. posted by Keri

Quick random thought before I completely pass out...what is it that makes children singing a creepy song ten times creepier than normal? posted by Keri
