Well, this is kind of disappointing. If you read my Cutty-Stark site (which I totally revamped this week! Go me!!!) or have talked to me in general about the greatness that is Fullmetal Alchemist, you know that I love this series. When I heard about the videogame coming out, I was more than ecstatic. The graphics appeared to be fabulous and the gameplay seemed interesting. Today all I've read are horrible, horrible reviews about it. Normally I don't pay attention to reviews, but when the esteemed author of VG Cats mentioned the bad controls and awful audio, it's made me not even want to rent it. Audio in a game is very important to me. It's about to stop me from playing my new Inuyasha game I got for Christmas...the dialogue is so bad it makes me want to put it on mute. But then I can't escape the poorly edited subtitles. If the game play wasn't fun, it would have been shelved with Final Fantasy.

Oh well, with the money saved on that, I can buy the new Shadow of Rome game for the PS2 and kill gladiators with lions. Sounds like more fun than transmuting a rock into a gattling gun anyway.

Bacon-kun has made her way onto my infamous Quote Wall while listening to me bitch and moan (and no, she is not referring to me...at least I hope not). Thanks for your input, Bacon-kun. I may make a T-shirt out of that one.

Last night I was called to edit on the fly subtitles for this brand new anime that has the weirdest title I've run into yet: Beck The Mongolian Chop Squad. If only the show was half as interesting as the title. If only I was actually paid for editing subtitles.

Well it looks like my Superbowl prediction was half true. I predicted it would be Atlanta vs. New England. I'm a little sad that the Eagles did win, but I'm happy knowing that they'll get bowled over by the Patriots. Congrats, though, to Roethlisberger of the Steelers...it's simply amazing that he took the Steelers to the AFC Championship as a mere rookie.

I dedicated this past weekend to packing. Even though I packed all day Saturday and half the day on Sunday, it doesn't look like I got anything done. The walls are definitely bare and most of the shelves are empty, but nothing really looks packed. I'm sure once the big screen is loaded up, the house will look more packed. It also doesn't help that I feel so rushed. I only have two more weekends to pack before I spend all of February in a courtroom. The plan is to go home on weekends and pack, but I have a feeling that all I'm going to want to do is sleep.

If I don't sleep tonight, that will be seven days with no sleep!!! WHEEEEEEEEE! And this splitting headache makes it thrice the fun! But I'm strangely still hyper every day, and I'm ready to throw a Techno Dance Party and get jiggy with it. Think it's time to see a doctor about this? Bacon-kun, no cracks from you.

Looks like this year's playoffs aren't going to go AT ALL how I want them to. I'm almost scared to cheer for the Patriots next week. I have a baaad feeling that the Superbowl is going to be Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia, a rather boring Pennsylvania shoot out. Obviously I would root for the Steelers, since I hate the Eagles and I think it's cool that the QB is a rookie, but they are still far from one of my favorite teams. Makes me almost glad that I can't go to a Superbowl party this year.

And as of today it is official...we've entered into a contract to sign our house, and closing has been set for the last week in February. Guess I should actually pack or something. I thought about it this weekend, but everytime I looked around to start packing I got overwhelmed and therefore, didn't pack anything. The easiest thing to tackle should be the books and the picture frames, but geez I have a lot of them.

Wish I had something real and interesting to report, as I doubt anybody cares to hear about how I haven't slept in four days (bad insomnia that alcohol doesn't even cure). But hey, you got to hear about it anyway. Better figure out something to eat and watch something else besides how badly the Colts did today. Peyton is going to be another Marino...awesome records and no Superbowl ring. What, me bitter? Nooooooooooo.

This would only happen to Shawn. On his weekly day off yesterday, he drove around Rowlett and Garland looking at future prospects for habitation. On a whim, he drove by the lot we had previously put money down on and had sold out from under us, and lo and behold, it's still there with a for sale sign and no house. Shawn tore over to the management, chewed them out, and now we have our lot and floorplan back. If the developers had just waited like they promised to do, neither of us would have had to have that headache a few months back. So look out, Garland! The Honeas are coming!

And in other news, the Green Bay Packers are about to become the bane of my existence when it comes to stress. I don't think I've ever seen so much suck in one game.

Bacon-kun gets the oddest e-mails from people about her cel gallery. She usually asks me for advice on how to answer them, and I put my mad English skillz to work and she copies and pastes my replies. So nice to know that my two English degrees aren't going to waste. Anyway, she got this one e-mail from a complete moron, and I want to share the e-mail and my response to it.

I've heard today from two cel collecting friends that they are having problems with their significant others over their cel collections. One has put a lot of her nice stuff on ebay, and the other is contemplating a sale. I don't understand this at all. I realize that this is a rather different hobby and it is expensive, but unless the hobby is driving someone to mortgaging their house, I don't see why the SO has a problem with it. Are people in your house starving? Are the lights still on? If so, what does it matter what they spend their extra money on? I guess I'm just really lucky to have a husband that is so supportive of my hobby. He looks over my new stuff and says that they're neat whether he thinks so or not, and every now and then when he catches me surfing Yahoo! Japan, he'll comment that I should bid on a certain cel. He even gives opinions on whether I should sell certain cels. Sure, he doesn't exactly pat me on the shoulder when I bitch about losing an auction or get overly excited when new parcels come in every week (that's what my fabulous friends Bacon-kun, Wolfie, and Pudge-aroo are for!), but he's never told or asked me to stop or sell anything. He knows that I would never place us in financial jeopardy, so he trusts me and supports my hobbies. I am very, very proud of my collection. I think I have captured some beautiful artwork and nice moments in time of fabulous animation. It took me a couple of years, a lot of patience, and yes, a lot of money to obtain it. People may not understand it, but hey, I don't understand modern art or stamp collectors either. But just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you have the right to belittle it or tell someone to stop collecting it. RAARRRR this stuff just angers me.

Monday, January 03, 2005 - 9:43 AM

Happy 2005 everyone! Last year at this time, I was glad that the year was over. This year, I can't wait to see what 2005 will bring. So far, it has to be a far brighter outlook as last year I greeted the new year by puking at a gas station parking lot. Not that I didn't have fun with alkydol this year. Shawn and I went to my sister's for her New Year's party at her house. We had a BLAST. As much fun as we had in Houston, we decided that we aren't going to make another Houston trek for awhile...been there a lot in the past few months, and I have the gas bill to prove it.

I really don't know what resolutions I'm going to make this year, since I didn't really keep the ones I made last year (although I did keep the most important one: get a job). I feel that I should re-adopt most of them and do a better job sticking with them. I do have one new resolution I would like make: cut down on fast food. Since my commute sucks my energy out of me, I know that working out will never happen. But I can reduce my fast food intake and hopefully reduce my waistline as well. Shawn and I have been really, really bad at copping out for fast food this past year because we're both too tired to cook. We may adopt Jared's Subway diet as a remedy until we move closer to our jobs, which is not totally a bad idea.

Playoffs kick off this weekend! I'm excited and depressed at the same time. I have no idea what I'm going to occupy my time with on Sundays and Monday nights once football season is over. Work out? Naaaaaaaaah.
